In ‘The Style of Our Lives’ LIFT aimed to explore what style means to Londoners of all ages in the so-called 'style capital of the world’. The project took place in 2000, leading up to LIFT 2001. The artists involved were experienced in contemporary performance art and in working with schools and the community. They held workshops in schools exploring the diversity of style in popular dress, music and dance. The project drew in parents and older people, with workshops in story-telling, hat-making music and puppetry; it culminated in a production in the form of a tour of Stoke Newington which involved exhibits shown in different locations including a cafe, alleyway and cemetary. The report by consultant Sarah Bedell provides a detailed evaluation of the project and includes:
