As a freelance/part-time marketing managerfor a touring dance company and other smaller arts organisations, it often feels I am working in isolation. Being a member of the AMA has given me the chance to meet other marketing managers, network and exchange ideas and contact details as well as benefiting from training events relevant to me.

Five good reasons to join the AMA

Keep up-to-date with current issues and best practice

The AMA provides a wealth of resources to help you keep ahead of the game in arts marketing and audience development. This includes a members-only website, monthly e-mail bulletins and our quarterly journal, JAM (Journal of Arts Marketing)

Develop new skills relevant to your job

A range of practical, strategic and conceptual level training events take place across the UK. Our courses aim to offer all members something relevant to their current development needs, whether that involves developing skills, engaging in debate, or sharing the experience and knowledge of leading practitioners.

 Further your professional development

The mentoring and action learning schemes provide support and learning in a safe environment. Taking part can be challenging, stimulating and hugely rewarding. Involvement will allow you to take time out to think, to share experiences, and get one-to-one feedback from your mentor or feedback from your peers. These schemes help to build motivation and self-confidence.

Inspire your thinking

Many of our members, particularly those with a lot of experience in the industry, tell us that they like the opportunities that the AMA offers to help shape their own ideas and inspire their plans.

Network with other arts professionals

This might be face to face at events, or regional network meetings, or via the members-only website. Join now to reduce your isolation and start sharing experiences, problems and solutions with 2,000 other arts professionals.

When I first joined I thought it was all about the annual conference, but I was wrong. Having AMA membership is like sharing an office with the best team in the business: fanrastic advice, cunning bits of research, great contacts, even lively gossip on occasion - all there when you need them most. I wouldn't want to do my job without it.
